Dr. Monterrosa developed the NeuroEcosystem Success Model by integrating decades of research in neuroscience, learning psychology, Self-Determination Theory (SDT), Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and Culturally Responsive Instruction (CRI).

His work focuses on creating equitable learning systems for neurodiverse students and Hispano-American families across the United States and Latin America — especially communities with limited access.
